The Real Santa Cruz Lumber Co. - con'd
With the passing of the railroad, an era came to an end. It was the last of its kind in the western United States - an isolated logging railroad of a kind once so common was now history. Just before the sawmill was closed in 1972, a short film, about twenty minutes in length, was made by the company. Entitled End of an Era, the film documents logging operations of the last of the remaining old growth redwoods during that time. This film is available to borrow through the Santa Cruz County Public Library. Unfortunately, no historical footage of the former railroad operations is shown, nor is the railroad even mentioned.
